Recycled Silk
The sari is the traditional Indian dress, which is a piece of cloth measuring 4-5 metres long by 1 metre wide. Women wear it wrapped around their body like a toga and they come in different materials and finishes. Cotton, polyester, wool embroidery, with rhinestones, etc. They are quite unique fabrics. In the 5 years that I have been using these fabrics, I have never had a repeat of one. At Paulamar we use those that are 100% silk, of the crepe type.
At Paulamar we take fabrics that already exist and give them a second life. We choose saris that are 100% silk, that are in good condition, to turn them into new pieces of clothing. This process is called Upcycling, where materials that already exist are used to create an improved product, moving it up the value chain.
Saris often combine two very similar types of prints in one piece. For example: large flowers and small flowers, stripes on one side, then on the other. This can manifest itself in small variations in the pattern on the final garment, which may not be identical to the one in the published photo. If you have any doubts, ask me. These are subtle differences anyway.
MATERIALS AND CARE
It is a fiber that has its origin in cellulose, which is extracted from certified eucalyptus forests (FSC). It has a great capacity to absorb relative humidity, which makes it very comfortable to walk on. It is very soft and fluid. It feels like a viscose with more body. These are fibers that are certified as compostable and biodegradable that will return to their origin: nature.
It is a fiber of natural origin that is obtained by processing the surpluses from the cotton production process. It is a fine, resistant fabric that dries quickly. It is a fabric that has a good drape and movement. It helps regulate body temperature allowing the body to breathe and is antistatic. It is soft and silky to the touch and is also known as vegan silk.
Wash it with cold or warm water and mild detergent by hand or on a delicate cycle in the washing machine inside a mesh bag, like the one used for bras. If there is any localized stain, massage it with love, many times applying quix does the magic.
After washing, let it air dry horizontally for a while and then hang it on a hanger to dry flat. Before using it, hang it in the bathroom while you shower. The steam from the shower helps a lot to smooth out wrinkles.
If you need to iron it, whether to define the neckline, sleeve or hem, iron it at a medium-high temperature and with a lot of steam, this makes the job super easy and it will look like new.
MEASUREMENTS AND SIZES
We have garments that are one size and others that are size SML-XL, which are specified on the product.
The measurements we publish are those of the finished garment. I recommend that you measure a similar garment of yours that fits you well and compare it with the measurements published in the description.
You can stretch it out on a table or bed, which makes the task easier. The most important measurements that give a fairly accurate idea of a garment are: bust width , which is measured at the front of the garment under the arm (armpit), from side to side, and the length of the garment , which is measured from the inside of the shoulder (neck) to the end where the garment ends (hem).
If you can't find it, please ask me for it using the Wp button and I'll be happy to help you.
If this available size does not suit you, we can make the one you like in the measurements you need.
This is subject to us being able to do it in a Zero Waste way .
Send me a WhatsApp and we will check the availability of fabrics so you can have your Paulamar.
